       HISTORY OF THE DEPARTMENT

The PRR & VS Govt. College, Vidavaluru,SPSR Nellore Dist., is established in the year 1965 to serve the needs of Local youth. This institution is at first affiliated to Sri Venkateswara University, Tirupati. Later after the Establishment of the Vikrama Simhapuri Universty Nellore,this college has been under affiliation from 2012 this prestigious institution is affiliated to Vikrama Simhapuri Universty Nellore.

The subject plays a significant role in the mother tongue in the state of Andhra Pradesh. The knowledgeof mother tongue Telugu helps in solving many problems and the study easy to understand it is theadvantage.

The department of Telugu of this college was established on1965, as second language is subject for graduate students of this college.Telugu is imported to the students of Telugu and English medium of under graduate students as second language. The students are evaluated in paper I, II, III, and IV at the end of semesters I, II, III and IV. The results of the department are very much encouraging and consistent. This department works for students to excel in the language skills by sensitizing them to participate in various cultural and literary activities like essay writing, Elocution Poetry Quiz, Story writing, poetry writing, singing, Classical and Folk dance, Mono action etc.,


THE OBJECTIVES OF LANGUAGE TEACHING

The global objectives of language teaching can be defined as helping students learn a language to perform a variety of functions. The main objective of teaching should be to help learners how to draw out their latent creativity. Every learner is born with a built-in language leaning mechanism. This mechanism gets activated when the learner is exposed to that language. What is therefore essential is to create an atmosphere where learning can take place.

  • Extension lectures are arranged periodically to give on opportunity to students to interact with eminent Speakers.
  • Soft skills training classes are conducted along with regular curriculum.
  • Newspaper articles of eminent poet’s work and articles are kept available for the ready reference.
  • Seminars are conducted regularly in the class room.
  • Consistency in pass percentage i.e. above 95%.
  • Celebration of MATRUBHASHA DINOTSAVAM on FEBRUARY 21
  •  Celebration of TELUGU BHASHA DINOTSAVAM on AUGUST 29th every year.
  • The best practice of the Department is to explain “POEM” everyday and maintained GODA PATHRIKA
  • Class seminars, assignments, debates and quizzes are conducted by students.
