PRR & VS GOVERNMENT COLLEGE

PRR&VS Government College, Vidavalur was started as a composite co-education college on 8th July, 1965. The donors were Sri Ponnaluru Ramachandra Reddy and Smt. Venkata Subbamma, landlords of Vidavalur. The college was initially started on the campus of Z.P High school, Vidavalur. The present structure took shape in 1989. The college has 11.72 acres of campus. At first it was a composite college but on 16-07-2002, the Junior college was bifurcated from this college. The college got its recognition under 2(f) and 12(b) of the UGC, in the year 1991. The college was affiliated to Sri Venkateswara University right from its inception i.e., 1965-66 to 2009-10. From 2010-11 onwards the college has been affiliated to Vikrama Simhapuri University, Nellore. The college was accredited by NAAC, Bangalore with ‘B’ grade with CGPA score of 2.03 in the year 2008, and re-accredited in 2015 with ‘B’ grade with CGPA score of 2.04.

The IQAC was established in 2008. The college with its well established library with more than 16000 books and important journals in science and arts. Moreover, the college encourages the staff to attend the orientation programmes, refresher courses, workshops and seminars conducted at national and international level for updating their knowledge and skills. Besides, it encourages them to conduct various programmes like student seminars, workshops at college level as well as at district level. It also tries to improve quality in education by encouraging guest lectures. The faculty members are encouraged to send proposals to UGC for the sanction of minor and major research projects and national seminars and workshops. The computer and skill oriented education, JKC platform for employability, inculcation of social spirit among students through NSS, NCC, Red Ribbon club, Eco-club activities, participation of students in state level games have won the appreciation from all the corners.. In view of the 3rd cycle of reaccreditation, the college prepared the self-study report evaluating quality in terms of sustenance, enhancement and steady improvement of the college in the last five academic years. It is done on the basis of seven criteria highlighting the key aspects of each criterion.
