Most of the students seeking admission into UG programmes of Statistics combination come from rural and semi-urban background. These first generation students are not aware of the developments in and around, and the need for statistical analysis for evolving policy decisions based on research in multiple disciplines. Many students opting for UG (Statistics) programme come from MPC stream/ Vocational groups at +2/Intermediate level. To enable them grasp and stream into study of statistics, a bridge course is conducted by the faculty in the first month of every academic year.
Besides class room instruction, the faculty facilitate transfer of knowledge by way of co-curricular activities like student seminars, quiz programmes, field surveys, study projects.
Guest lectures are often organized for the benefit of students in understanding statistics in particular and its importance in developing the socio-economic policy framework in general. These guest lectures also provide a chance for the students to get acquainted with various statistical tools applied in research.
As a value addition and student support initiative, the department offers PG entrance coaching for students aspiring higher studies. Both objective and subjective Study material is provided.
Apart from these, guidance for competitive exams is also provided for statistics students. Study material is provided.
The department has MoUs with D.K.Government College(A), Nellore and r facilitating seminars/guest lectures/projects.
Remedial classes are taken up for academically poor students before sem-end exams.
